Welcome to the website of the School Sisters of St. Francis of Christ the King. We are happy to have you visit us in this way and hope that in getting to know a little about us, you will desire to know us more.

At this moment in our lives, we, like many religious communities, are asking some very important questions about how we can take the gifts of our spiritual and historical heritage into the future in the ways that are most needed by the People of God.

Filled with Franciscan ideals and values as well as the charism (spirit and gift) of Mother Margareta Pucher, our Congregation grew from a tiny foundation into a worldwide congregation. We are one of nine provinces of this large religious congregation. This site acknowledges our place in this international Congregation as it focuses on the story of the Sisters of the St. Francis of Assisi Province here in North America.

Our Province story is rich in moments of dedication, love, and sacrifice. It began with a small group of women who were sent from the Motherhouse in what was then Austria. These women gave service in a land far away from their homeland and in some unexpected circumstances.  From that foundation, we have grown in our service, numbers, and self-understanding.

We invite you to see and share some pieces of our community and story. Perhaps more importantly, on this site we share with you some of our dreams, our hopes and our sense of where God continues to call us as we strive to listen with openness for God’s message for today and to serve with a passion for the possibilities that are ours.
