ABOUT US

School Sisters of St. Francis of Christ the King

Our Congregational Ministries

The Congregation of the School Sisters of St. Francis of Christ the King, with  the Generalate in Grottaferrata, a suburb of Rome, Italy, has nine provinces and a region with over 900 Sisters involved in ministries in thirteen countries on four continents: Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Austria, Germany and Switzerland in Europe; Egypt, RD Congo and Uganda in Africa; Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay in South America, and the United States in North America.

In the various countries, the Sisters are teachers and nurses, authors, social workers, missionaries, domestic workers, musicians and artists. Our Sisters spend countless hours in quiet praying for the needs of the world, translating documents, and designing and sewing vestments; we are in the midst of activity caring for orphans in Bosnia, teaching young women in the Congo, caring for the sick in hospitals in Paraguay as well as many other ministries.  All Congregational members throughout the world, like us in North America, live the charism of Mother Margareta fulfilling the needs of each of their specific provinces.

Though Sisters from the North American Province minister in North America, a bond among the Sisters of the many provinces is strong and in many ways we help the ministries of the other provinces, especially those working in poor areas.

Through meetings, pilgrimages, visits and celebrations, Sisters from the various Provinces and the region have worked together, enjoyed activities together, prayed together, and decided together to continue to walk in the footsteps of Mother Margareta as we face the challenges and needs of the 21st Century.
