OUR FRANCISCAN SPIRITUALITY

As Sisters of St. Francis, we embrace and celebrate our Franciscan heritage- living the Gospel.

As St. Francis and St. Clare embraced the Gospel for their time, we strive to live the same values in the 21 st Century.St. Francis in the Garden

For St. Francis, everyone and everything is interrelated. He saw everything as sister and brother.

As Francis embraced the lepers and “the other” in his time, we strive by our words and our actions to alleviate injustice, poverty, oppression and hopelessness in our world.

Francis saw that we are connected not only to other humans but to all creation as all was given us by the goodness of God. He wrote his beautiful Canticle in awe of God’s creation.

We, too, as Sisters of St. Francis protect, beautify and appreciate our environment on our property, and we support and encourage protection of all creation throughout the world.

Because Francis saw all as interrelated, he wanted all to live in peace. The beautiful Peace Prayer recited and sung through the years and ages, is attributed to St. Francis. Whether he actually wrote it or not, it expresses his longing to be a peacemaker and is a prayer dear to all Franciscans.
